My Four Generations exhibit has found a home in one of Perth’s most prestigious art galleries.
For five days in March next year, the ‘emerge Art Space’ in Mount Lawley will host the exhibition which was photographed in Pop Studios last year.
Four Generations is a very simple, yet compelling concept: photograph a series of fine art portraits of brand new babies with their Great Grandparents which will serve as a tangible illustration of the tremendous contrast between young and old. It also creates a unique record of all the families who took part.
The entire Four Generations Project was taken in black & white of babies and newborns under six months.
In many of the images, it was physically taxing for the great grandparent to hold the babies, which in itself is a hugely important aspect of the aesthetic of the exhibit. Even though it was difficult for some of the participants, they were determined to take part and each and every one of them looked amazing.
The exhibit has been chosen by the emerge Art Space as the very first photographic event ever held at the gallery which exhibits a diverse range of Australian contemporary and indigenous artwork. I would like to say a huge thank you to ‘emerge’ directors Sherri and Jan for agreeing to allow me to exhibit at their stunning gallery. It really is a huge privalege.
I cannot tell you all how excited I am about this exhibition. I’ve been dying to announce this news and here today I finally can! Watch this space for more information on the exhibition as it draws closer.
Take care,
Richard
