Babies… Dingo Babies!

Photographing babies is a specialty but these guys have a little more hair than I’m used to!

In my days as spokesman and media manager at the RSPCA I would spend a lot of time hugging puppies. It was the best part of the job – well that and the amazing staff there – but I rarely get a chance to meet little fuzzballs these days.

That all changed last week when one of my favourite people in Perth, Alex Cearns of Houndstooth Studios, asked me if I’d take some shots of her, taking photographs of two adorable Dingo puppies. Well, you can imagine my reaction!

I am a huge animal lover and yearn to hug them nearly as much as my partner Sam who was so excited in the car as we drove to meet the pups I thought she’s pop! Little Isis and Osiris are just two months old and when we met them I couldn’t help but wonder what would have happened to them if they hadn’t been born in a loving home.

The Dingo gets a bad rep from movies and tales of vicious animals intent on maiming humans… a bit like the Wolf in Europe. It’s ill-deserved and smacks of ignorance. I have met several dingos since moving to Australia and have always found them somewhat nervous but very definitely not aggressive.

Both mother and father were at the shoot and both were very friendly and deeply affectionate, particularly the mum who spent a lot of time licking my face!

Dingo Puppies look like little bears!

We had a ball at the shoot and if you want to see more of the incredible photos that the extremely talented Alex Cearns took of the puppies click here.

A huge thanks to Alex for inviting Sam and I to take part in a very special evening.
