4 Generations Exhibit – The Countdown

<br />
Newborn Baby Photography

4 Generations launches on March 7th at the emerge Art Gallery in Mount Lawley on the 7th March 2012

It is with great pleasure that I can officially launch the countdown of my very first photographic exhibition: 4 Generations on the 7th March at the emerge Art Space in Mount Lawley.

More than 30 families took part in the three shoots for the exhibit back in 2010 and have been waiting patiently for the launch which is sure to be an emotional time for everyone involved. The exhibit shows photographs of great grandparents with their great grandchildren – all under 6-months-old – and is shot entirely in black and white.

For many of the participants – many of whom who were 80+ years-old – simply holding their teeny great grandchildren was a taxing task but one they all relished.

The photos vividly illustrate the profound love each and every one of the 4G Greats has for their beloved great grandchildren in a very personal, very often humerous – occasionally hysterical – and sometimes very moving way that only the lens can portray.

4Generations will make you laugh, it may make you cry, but whatever you feel when you look at these remarkable images, you will feel something and that, for me, is what photography is all about.

The 7th March will see a launch party at the emerge Art Space at a time yet-to-be confirmed (watch this space… I know many of you will be at work so we’re looking at something around 6-7pm to run for an hour or 2).

Each photograph will be displayed on a 20×30 mount and will be available for purchase on the day as limited edition prints. For each family there will also be the option of buying the digital masters of the prints so they can be retained forever and – hopefully – passed on down through the generations as a very unique part of their history.

4G was conceived in a dream. In the early hours of the morning one day back in 2010, I got out of my bed – still fast asleep – and wandered into my study where I wrote down a few words describing what I had seen while dreaming. The next day, I found a little note on my desk and 4 Generations was born!

I simply cannot wait for this exhinition to launch. I’m so excited to see all of the pictures edited and hanging on the emerge Art Space walls in all their glory, each one photographed and edited by yours truly with a great deal of love and affection not only for the subjects, but also for the entire families, many of whome had travelled considerable distances from around WA to take part.

Perth Photographer

Come and join us for the launch on March 7!

I sincereley hope my followers and fans on Facebook and my blog will come along and say hi on what is sure to be a very interesting evening.

As a bonus, I will also be displaying some of the shots taken during my 10 Pregnant Ladies shoot last year. These in themselves are a very unusual and entirely surprising set of photographs of 10 beautiful bumps displayed in a way that you will probably never see again… Think of the Himalayas!

I would like to thank my great mates Paul at Fitzgerald’s Photo Imaging in Perth as well as the inimitable Julian Masters at Pop Studios for sponsoring 4G. I’d also like to thank my beloved wife Sam for putting up with me during its development. I really couldn’t do what I do without her ongoing support and encouragement… Not to mention patience!

I sincereley hope you will find the time to come and join us for the launch on March 7… I’ll probably be shaking with nerves somwhere in a corner hopefully with a glass of red to keep me company!!

Much love,

Richard

Mini-Me Competition is LIVE!

Perth Photographer

Got a mini-me at home? Get entering!

It could just be the funniest competition in history! Families from all over WA are, as we speak, desperately trying to make their little girls look like Mum. Little boys are, as you read this, having fake moustaches drawn on their little faces so they look like Dad.

Yes, Mini-Me fever has arrived and parents are snapping away their lookalike offspring to secure the unbelievable prize that Richard Barry, the photographer in Perth who puts the Q into cute photographs of babies and newborns, is giving away.

“This could get seriously funny” said Richard who will be glued to his Facebook page over the next few days to ensure that those parents entering their wee bubbs stick to the rules and don’t take up Photoshop expert classes in a bid to win.

“We want a good clean competition” said Richard. “Babies who look like their Mum or Dad in a single photo sent in via Facebook… I have seen some of these lookalikes close up and I gotta say, I’m glad I’m not a passport inspector!”

The winner of the competition will win a huge photographic prize:

The Little Sausage pack: A free photo session with Richard, widely regarded as the premier baby, newborn and maternity photographer in Australia. 15 hi-resolution digital negatives on a disc. Facebook and Internet negatives – 15 specially rendered digital negatives created just for the Internet and electroinc devices. Three 5×7 inch prints. Two 8×10 prints and one huge 16×20 print. All these prints will be professionally edited by Richard. One amazing DVD of all your chosen images that will also be posted to Richard’s private online gallery so your friends and family abroad can watch it wherever they are.

But that’s not all….

Richard is going to invite the winner and one friend or relative to come along to a very special location shoot in Perth (on a weekend yet to be announced) to see exactly how he gets those incredible photographs of babies and newborns that he is known for. This has never been done before and is only for the Mini-Me competition.

You had better go now. Get a photo of your bubb and your hubby or Mrs together and send it into the Mini-Me competition for a chance to win! To enter, simply go to Richard’s Facebook page and look to the left hand column. There you will see ‘contests’. Click it. Voila! You’re in ;)

Alternatively, if you can see a bright orange bar at the bottom of this page, you can click it to be brought straight to the competition.

Enjoy!

Mini Me Competition

Perth PhotographerThis Friday the Facebook pages smashed through the 1450 mark and, as promised, I am announcing a very special competition to mark this incredibly significant milestone in Richard Barry Photography’s (RBP) development as a premier newborn photographer in Perth.

2011 was an incredible year and for 2012 we’re going to kick everything off with huge smiles! So, we’re going to have a wee competition that should bring in some seriously funny photographs of some of Perth’s most gorgeous families.

OK, so what’s this competition about then

MiniMe... It’s the baby who looks most like his or her Mum or Dad!

Everyone has a funny pic of their bubb looking just like Dad, or the spitting image of Mum… We wanna see ‘em, so when the Facebook competition page launches, send the pic in and get ready to get all your friends to vote!

The winner will receive:

A free shoot, a Little Sausage Pack AND… wait for it…

For the very first time ever, I am going to invite the winner – plus one family member or friend – to come along to a location shoot for a full-session with a newborn baby.

The shoot will take place at a location (to be announced) but will be sure to require a whole heap of imagination and technical skill to achieve the results you expect from Richard Barry Photography. You can be part of the experience and see first-hand what it takes to create the incredible newborn photography Richard has become known for.

So as well as winning a whole heap of amazing photos, you’ll also have the opportunity to take part in a photographic experience you’ll remember for a lifetime.

Watch this space this week and on Facebook for details on the competition’s launch.

In the meantime, if your bubb looks like you or dad, get the camera out and start snapping!!

;)

Etosha

newborn photography perth

Newborn baby Etosha at 3 weeks.

Etosha is the name of a Great National Park in Namibia and is home to some of the most stunning creatures on this planet.

It is also the name of this beautiful little girl whose delicate nature shone through during my newborn photography session with her and her family in Perth.

newborn photography perthLittle Etosha was an absolute pleasure to work for and even when things did get a bit too much and it was time for a cry, the tiniest little murmer of a weep was heard from this little toot.

Mum and Dad (well Mum mostly) made fab models and even Nanna got in on the action, making the entire shoot a really family-oriented occassion that was a complete pleasure.

And just look at the shots!

Not only did little Etosha pull off the  ‘Hands n’ Cheeks‘ pose but she also slept so beautifully that I was able to do a lot of natural light and flash photography around her with not even a stir.

If you would like to book a session for your newborn or baby, click here.

Or you can call Richard on 04300 50558.

And if you haven’t already, have a look at Richard’s Facebok page which is where most special offers are announced.
