If you had told me ten years ago that in a decade’s time I would be a baby photographer in Perth, I would have probably thought you’d been spending too much time at the bar!
I’m not even sure I knew where Perth was back then…
Tonight, I’ll be at the 2011 AIPP Epson Western Australian Professional Photographer Awards Presentation Evening to see if I have won an award for my photographs which have been nominated for the finals of this, my very first serious competition.
I didn’t sleep well last night. My mouth is dry and my tongue feels like a shaggy aged dog that has decided to lay down and twitch uncontrollably.
Nerves have set in.
Obviously the wife has picked out a new dress. I’ll be brushing off a suit and picking out a tie that is neither offensive or gaudy and – with any luck – will be hanging it over a shirt that won’t have wine stains on it by 9pm.
I should know by then.
If I’ve won a prize that is.
Just saying it is making me nervous. No breakfast for me today me thinks. If I have any more coffee I’ll be all starey-eyed at the Awards so have to draw the line at two cups.
If anyone has some tips on how to control the nerves, I wish they’d speak up.
So, wish me luck I spoze. It’s a great honour either way, of course… but I would like to win something (preferably something too big to fit in the car!!).
Big Love.
Richard
